Extract from war diary of 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

In trenches.  Weather dull and misty at times.  Wind, slight airs from S.W.  A quiet day with slight shelling.  Battalion front extended on left up to LA BASSEE CANAL.  “D” Company relieved 2 platoons of the 16th Batt. R. WARWICKS in the new area.  No. 49084 Pte. Partridge, A., wounded in arm by bullet.  1 Officer and 7 Other Ranks proceeded on leave.
