Extract from the diary of Maj P K Glazebrook, Cheshire Yeomanry, Egypt Expeditionary Force

We had infantry drill with Barron in the morning during which George made the usual damned exhibition of himself. I want to go to Alexandria because the gold “crown” has come off one of my teeth, seven weeks ago, and it ought to be put right, but I cannot leave him in command. Hugh or Eason could run the show, but George is a captain and would have to be in charge, & I cannot let him have the squadron even for one parade, so my tooth must lump it. We had some compass work in the afternoon. News in the Reuter about Siwa which was a very successful show apparently.
