Extract from war diary of 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Trenches, Cambrin sector

Trenches in a very bad state.  Our artillery extremely active from 2.P.M., – 3-30.P.M.  Our heavy trench mortars fired from 3-45.P.M., – 4-30.P.M.  “D” Company strafed, with stokes mortar co-operation from 7.P.M., – 7-30.P.M.
