Extract from war diary of 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Billets at CAMBLAIN L’ABBÉE

Weather wet and windy.  At 5 am. Canadian Corps attacked VIMY ridge with success.  BATTN. Ready to move at ½ hour’s notice.  Blankets and S.D. Caps dumped in the village but re-issued later in the day.  No orders received.
