Extract from war diary of 6th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Hill Top sector near Ypres

Battalion in trenches.    At 12-30am. a further bombardment of the enemy trenches well on our left took place, and five minutes afterwards the enemy put up a barrage between front and support lines for one hour.     No casualties.    Fatigues made good damage done.
