Extract from war diary of 9th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

De Zon camp

To day the preparations were all complete.  Guides to the assembly knew the tracks and their positions.  The operation was fully explained to all ranks.  All stores etc. had been drawn & were waiting in camp ready for distribution.  Normal rolls of personnel going into battle and remaining out had been completed.  Parties for extra regimental duties during the battle had been warned and given their instructions.  All was now ready.  Information came from Brigade that Zero day was fixed for the 7th, 3 other rank reinforcements arrived.
