Extract from war diary of 9th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Front line

The work of consolidation was continued.  Much hostile shelling was endured.  At 9-40 p.m. an extremely heavy bombardment commenced.  This resulted in the S.O.S. light signal being sent up.  A report is appended.  3 O.R. reinforcements arrived.
