Extract from war diary of 6th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Canal Bank

Increased hostile gas shelling, particularly in Ypres.  Large No. of dumps exploded.   Working parties as previous day.

2nd Lt. J P White left for R.F.C.  17 OR Reinforcements joined.

2 OR wounded.  8 OR sick.   2 OR Rejoined.

TRENCHES – YPRES-ROULERS RAILWAY – BELLEWAARDE BECK

Our artillery was particularly active throughout the day, enemies’ reply was feeble paying most attention to WESTLANE C.T. and communications, MENIN RD. etc. in rear. Aeroplanes were extremely active on both sides during early part of the evening. Work during day on KINGSWAY TR. JUNCTION SUPPORT by B and D Coys also during night by all three Coys in the line. C Coy were used for carrying of materials and rations.
