Extract from war diary of 4th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Schools camp

9.30 Battalion Parade for inspection by G.O.C ‘s Corps & Army.

10.30 Inspection. G.O.C. expressed highly highly satisfied with turnout of the Battalion.

12.15 G.O.C. II  Corps spoke to all Officers of the Battalion.

Orders received that Brigade would carry out a practice occupation of trenches in the EAST POPERINGHE defence line, this Battalion to occupy right SECTOR.

5pm Operation Orders Brigade Exercise No. 1. received.

7pm Battn Orders with reference to Bde Exercise No. 1. Issued (copy attached)

10.20 Battalion moved out of SCHOOLS CAMP in accordance with above orders

12.10 amOccupation of Txxx SECTOR reported complete

1.30 am Orders received to march back to CAMP

3.40 am Battalion arrived in CAMP
