Extract from war diary of 23rd Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment


Battalion moves into Billets and Tents at LUPIN FARM (near GRAND BEAUMART)   “B” Coy. remains at POSTON FARM to rest and rejoin Battalion at 5 PM.

Fruitless attempts to recover body of 2/Lt Campbell – night 6th/7th  –  Rescue party of Stretcher Bearers under M.O. (Lieut PHIBBS R.A.M.C) brings in Wounded from Le Pont de Nieppe. Battle Surplus rejoins.      8 O.R. Killed.   3 Missing.   10 Wounded, 2 Gas Casualties.
