Extract from war diary of 9th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Training.  Battalion in newly arranged Fighting Order at 11.00 hours.  Advance party went at 09.00 hours to reconnoitre area W. of HAUSSY for bivouac camp.

Battalion moved at 20.25 hrs. and on arrival in position S.E. of ST. AUBERT proceeded to dig in.  Two Brigades (the 57th Brigade and the 58th Brigade) were to attack the enemy positions N.E. of HAUSSY early the following morning with the 56th Brigade in reserve.  The Battalion being the reserve Battalion to the Brigade.
