Extract from war diary of 6th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

CLAIRMARAIS

During the morning the Battalion took over other bivouac billets in the forest.

Remainder of the day devoted to interior economy and generally cleaning up.

4 Officers reconnoitred battle positions at MONTS DES CATS.

4 OR. Hospital Sick.    3 OFF. & 24 OR. Reinforcements joined.

La Lacque camp

Church Parade in the Camp Theatre at 10-30 a.m.

R.C. Service in THIENNES Church.

Lieut-Colonel E.L. RODDY rejoined the Battalion from leave and took over Command of the Brigade during the absence of Brigadier on leave.

Capt & Adjutant C.H. HORSLEY M.C. rejoined the Battalion from leave.

Lieut G.B. LOCKETT rejoined the Battalion from leave.

Brigade Football Competition commenced.  Footbal [sic] match with 1st NORFOLKS resulted in a drawn game and it is to be replayed tomorrow at STEENBECQUE.

Pont Remy

9-30am. to 12-30pm.   Company and Specialist Training.

During the afternoon Mr Lloyd George, Lord Milner, Mr. Hughes and G.O.C. 4th. Army visited the American Troops using the Rifle Range in camp grounds afterwards conversing with the men of our Battalion.
