[In Salonika]

Came down to transport line in an awful storm. Fell in ravines; valise came off twice in rain. Got soaked through. Johny got wind up and put up a lot of flares which helped us on our way.

Still in line.  BUTKOVA reconnoitred, no sign of enemy. Busy improving existing trenches and making new ones.  Wire defences nearly completed.  Artillery registration also Lewis and Vickers Guns and Rifle Grenades complete.

Every precaution taken to prevent mosquito bite, with good result.  Mosquito Bivouac Sheets issued 1 between 2 men during month.  Face veils and gloves also issued for use of patrols going down towards villages on lower slope of hills.  Very few new cases of Malarial Fever.
